A friend of mine told me that he heard this on Channel 5 Radio yesterday. Apparently, there have been some studies done on mice that indicate that not only is red wine good for the heart, it also promotes weight loss.
The catch is, for this new diet to work, and adult human would need to consume 500 glasses of wine a day!
When I told my wife about this, her comment was “Of course, if you drank loads of red wine, you would lose weight…especially because I’m not cooking for you any more!”
Update: The study can be found here. (Link via Ben). Apparently, it’s all due to a compound called resveratrol. And it does not help you lose any weight…although it does counter the effect of a high calorie diet & promote longevity!
