Shiok Anniversary

12 Dec

Part of what makes living in phoren so tough is that you don’t always get the food you like. Indian food whether it’s Mangalorean, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Chinese or anything else, is what I truly miss.

The one restaurant I’ve wanted to dine in for almost 2 years now, is Shiok. I know it’s not traditional Indian cuisine, but man! if i want it, then i want it! I’m quite looking forward to getting to Bangalore & visiting Shiok later this month, with Deepak. (if Madman doesn’t throw us out!)

And now, to add to the pain, Shiok is offering 15% off their entire bill. But only for today & tomorrow.

Do visit. And please let me know what you ate, and how it was. Some pics would be nice too.

Me…I’ll just wallow in my pain!

You do get nice Indian restaurants in phoren too, depending on where in phoren you are though

Sandeepa: I do agree there are some avenues for good Indian food (or indian-cooked food) in phoren too. The point is in India, good food is ubiquitous. Although Shiok is not good food. It’s (reputedly) GREAT food. (Reputedly because Madman’s never treated me there yet…wink wink)
Madman: Pictures would be most welcome…email me or put them on flickr please please please!

I totally agree with you on this one. And yes you do get some good Indian food abroad but it never is quite like home is it? I mean where every dhaba, every little corner shop can serve the most delicious grub ever. Like we’ve never had real tandoori chicken since we got to the US. Most places have this horrible pink concoction that has never been inside a tandoor which is oh so essential for calling something ‘tandoori’ methinks.
But you’re on your way to India so you shouldn’t complain 🙂

Thanks Madman, you’ve succeeded in your evil aims of world domination through cooking! 😉
