  • The Personal History of David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
Whether I shall turn out to be the villain of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, this letter must show.
(Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show.. )
  • The skeletons just won’t stop tumbling out of Satyam’s cupboard. It now turns out that B Ramalinga Raju and his associates may have spirited away bank statements of the company that hold clues to the massive fraud perpetrated by them.
The Hyderabad office of Registrar of Companies did not find the statements at any of the three Satyam offices in and around the city raided in the morning. The offices have since been sealed.
Companies have to keep bank statements for the current and preceding years at registered offices. It is suspected that the files vanished as they would have given away the fraud, rendering Raju and his accomplices liable for immediate penal action.
  • I've been using the beta for a couple of weeks, and yesterday I got my hands on the official Beta 1 release, which is good enough to use on a regular basis if it wasn't for the hard cut-off date… yes, the beta release has an expiration date on August 1st 2009, after which it will stop working.
If you wanted to sum up Windows 7 in a few words: it's Windows Vista with a few new features and almost all the annoyances and bugs removed… and a really shiny coat of paint. It's impressive, so we'll hop straight into the screenshots.
  • Of course there will be sanctimonious posturing and most of it will come from precisely those who are greater criminals. The most unpalatable of this will come from the greedy politicians – and more specifically of the communist variety. They cannot let this golden opportunity of pointing out the evils of big private businesses go untapped.
The amounts that politicians routinely steal from the public dwarfs the amount that Mr Raju cooked his company’s books with. The politicians regularly get away with it. But Raju will not get away. His actions have directly hurt his colleagues through the negative fallout on the whole IT industry. He will be made an example of because it must become clear to all that he is an exception and not the rule in corporate India.
